1962 Venice Film Festival Award Plaque — Given for Excellence in Editing for “U.S. #1: American Profile”
Venice Film Festival award plaque presented to editor Constantine Gochis for the film ”U.S. #1: American Profile”, about the famed U.S. Route 1 Highway, which runs from Fort Kent, Maine to Key West, Florida. 8” x 10” wood plaque features a medallion from the oldest film festival in the world, reading ”La Biennale De Venezia”. Small nicks to left side, overall in very good condition. Sold for $3,125.
Alec Guinness’ 1958 Venice Film Festival Volpi Cup — Best Actor Award for “The Horse’s Mouth”
Alec Guinness’ 1958 Venice Film Festival (Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica) Volpi Cup. The award, named for the festival’s founder, is presented to the year’s best actor and actress. Guinness won for “The Horse’s Mouth,” a film which also earned him an Academy Award for Best Writing nomination for adapting the screenplay. A plaque, inscribed in Italian, is attached to the 7″ square marble base. Standing 18.25″ high and weighing 13 pounds, award shows minor corrosion to the metal cup, else very good. Sold for $1,903.
1936 Venice Film Festival Award Medal — Given to RKO for the Film “Metropolitan Nocturne”
1936 Venice Film Festival award presented to RKO Export Corporation for the film ”Metropolitan Nocturne”, given in the fourth year of what is one of the world’s oldest film festivals. Bronze medal pivots in its custom gilt and wood frame, featuring a relief of the winged lion on front and ”IV Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica Venezia”. Medal measures 4” in diameter, housed in the 9” x 7.5” x 3” frame. Discreet nicks to base of frame, otherwise near fine condition. Sold for $1,875.

Alec Guinness New York Film Critics 1957 Best Performance Award — For “The Bridge on the River Kwai”
New York Film Critics Best Performance of 1957 Award presented to Alec Guinness for his role in “The Bridge on the River Kwai.” This award is considered a signal as to whom will receive an Academy Award nomination and, indeed, Guinness also won an Oscar for this role in 1957. A metal facsimile of a newspaper printing plate is inscribed: “The New York Film Critics Present This Award to Alec Guinness for the Best Performance of 1957 / ‘The Bridge on the River Kwai'”. The 10″ x 13″ plaque, weighing 3.5 pounds, is in near fine condition. Sold for $2,533.
Sir Alec Guinness 1988 Berlin Film Festival Honorary Golden Bear Award — For an Exceptional Artistic Career
Berlin Film Festival Honorary Golden Bear Award presented to Sir Alec Guinness in 1988. This award pays tribute to important figures in the world of film and is presented for an exceptional artistic career. The award is inscribed: “Berlin Film Festival 1988 / Tribute to Sir Alec Guinness / For His Contribution to the Art of Film”. The award features a 7.25″ bear figure, designed by Renee Sintenis, standing upon a 3.75″ x 2.75″ base. Weighs 5.75 pounds. Overall in very good condition. Sold for $2,520.
