Sell Your Hamilton Naval Chronometer
Here is a Hamilton Naval Chronometer we have sold:
Hamilton Naval Chronometer 1943
Hamilton Watch Company naval ship chronometer Model 22. Gimbaled timepiece set in beautiful original mahogany box. Front plate reads: “Hamilton Watch Co. / Lancaster, PA U.S.A.” Movement labeled “Model 22 – 21 Jewels;” serial number “2F6043.” Two-door box allows for viewing of clock through glass at top, or direct access through middle opening. Drawer snaps and hinges fully functional. When the United States entered WWII, there was a shortage of calibrated timepieces for warships, instruments that were typically made abroad. Hamilton Watch Company rose to the occasion, producing the Model 21 chronometer in February 1942 and turning out approximately 500 a month for the next year to outfit American ships with the unparalleled perfection of the timepiece. This 1943 model, made for domestic consumption, was often used by jewelers and watch sellers because it kept such precise time. Enclosed card reads: “Correct Time by the Hamilton Chronometer Watch / Designed and built for use as a navigational timepiece during the war, this timepiece is the most accurate instrument of its type ever made.” Box measures 6″ x 6″ x 6″. Some scratches and wear to box. Small scratches to crystal. Clock not running, otherwise a beautiful example of a product of American wartime ingenuity in excellent condition. Sold for $1,422.
