Frank Gifford played professional American football in the NFL with the New York Giants for 12 seasons between 1952 and 1964. His strongest season may be considered 1956 when he was the NFL MVP and the New York Giants won the NFL Championship title. Gifford suffered a severe head injury during a 1960 game and didn’t play for 18 months. He returned to the game in 1962 and was awarded the NFL Comeback Player of the Year. He retired from football after the 1964 season and had career stats of 3,609 rushing yards and 34 touchdowns in 840 carries and 14 touchdowns with 6 interceptions. Gifford began a broadcasting career and covered football, gold and basketball for CBS. His broadcasting style earned him Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality and the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award. Gifford was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977.
