Here is a Roy Orbison autograph letter signed that we sold:

Roy Orbison Autograph Letter Signed — Responding to an Adoring Fan — “…I would like to meet you also but it is always difficult when traveling to see anybody…”

Charming fan letter to Roy Orbison with a signed response from Orbison on verso. Original fan letter reads in part: “Dear Ray, We have never written to you before, although we have seen you each time you have appeared at the Leeds Odeon…” Orbison responds, “Dear Angela + June, Thanks a million for the sweet letter. I would like to meet you also but is always difficult when traveling to see anybody. Be good. Love, Roy Orbison”. Letter, measuring 5.25″ x 7″, has a single horizontal fold and some staining. Near fine. Sold for $679.

Historic ”USA for Africa” Poster Signed by 24 Musical Artists From the 1985 Charity Single ”We Are The World” — Including Michael Jackson & Billy Joel

USA for Africa poster signed by 24 of its altruistic all-star members, plus a fingerprint by Stevie Wonder. The super-group was assembled to record the single ”We Are The World” to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia. The song soared as the first single ever to reach multi-platinum in sales. Large poster is signed by Harry Belafonte as co-creator of the project and by performers Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Stevie Wonder (with fingerprint), Diana Ross, Paul Simon, Dionne Warwick, Kenny Rogers, Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie, Steve Perry, Jeffrey Osborne, Daryl Hall, John Oates, Huey Lewis, Quincy Jones, Cyndi Lauper, Marlon Jackson, La Toya Jackson, Johnny Colla, Ruth Pointer, Sheila E., Bette Midler, Kim Carnes and Lindsey Buckingham. Signatures, mostly rendered in felt tip, appear in different colors – black, red, blue, light blue, green and pink. White poster with black logo measures 20” x 24”. Light creasing, otherwise near fine. Comes with an 8.5” x 11” document on USA for Africa letterhead listing the performers, with those who signed this poster highlighted. Sold for $2,500.

Bob Dylan & Joan Baez Signatures — From a 1963 Concert

Bob Dylan and Joan Baez signatures, on a cover postmarked 1 July 1963, used as a self-addressed, stamped envelope to mail tickets to a Joan Baez concert on 10 August 1963 in Asbury Park, New Jersey. Baez brought Dylan onstage briefly at this concert, and both stayed after the show to sign autographs. A photo of Baez signing accompanies the lot, from the “Asbury Park Evening Press”. Envelope measures 6.25″ x 3.75″. Almost split down the middle, and some edge wear, but large signatures remain bold. Sold for $1,250.
