The American Gold Eagle coin was first minted in 1986 and is one of the world’s leading bullion coins. It is produced from 2 karat gold alloy and available in face value denominations of $5, $10, $25 and $50 with respective weights of one tenth troy ounce, one quarter troy ounce, one half troy ounce and one troy ounce. The front of the coin depicts Lady Liberty holding both a torch and olive branch. The reverse features a male eagle clutching an olive branch flying towards a nest containing a female eagle and baby eagles. The coin’s reverse will undergo a redesign in 2021 to contain anti-counterfeiting features.
