John Wayne Mug From “Rooster Cogburn” — One of Wayne’s Famous Mugs Gifted to the Cast and Crew on His Films
John Wayne mug from “Rooster Cogburn”, customized and gifted to a member of the crew for the 1975 feature film, the sequel to “True Grit”. Wayne famously had mugs (all featuring a gold handle) custom made for each member of the cast and crew on his films, and would give them out after shooting wrapped. Ceramic mug features a printed illustration of Wayne and Katharine Hepburn in character from “Rooster Cogburn”, with custom print to verso reading: “MARVIN from Duke”, given to Marvin Weldon, the script supervisor. Underside is stamped “KETCHUM originals” in Long Beach, California. Measures 3.5″ in height and 3″ in diameter, not including handle. Some loss of finish to inside of handle, overall very good plus condition. Sold for $900.

John Wayne Coffee Mug That He Gave to Crew of “The Alamo”
Coffee mug given by John Wayne to a crew member on “The Alamo”. Starting in the early 1950s, Wayne famously started giving custom-made coffee mugs to the cast and crew of his movies. Although their design differed with each movie, they all had the signature gold handle. This mug reads “Bill From Duke” on one side and “The Alamo” on the other. With the “Wallace China U.S.A.” stamp on the underside, the china company used for Wayne’s mugs, as well as a stamp from Bob Williams of Tustin, CA, who owned The Mug Shop, the retail store that sold the mugs to Wayne. Substantial mug weighs 1 lb., 2 oz. Measures 4″ tall and 3.25″ wide, not including handle. Light wear, otherwise near fine. Sold for $2,557.
