Signed Pencil and Ink Illustration Drawn by Comic Book Artist Bill Ward — Originally Drawn for the “Sextra Laughs” Comic Series

Black and white pencil and ink illustration drawn by comic book artist Bill Ward for the “Sextra Laughs” comic book series. The illustration depicts a Fuller brush salesman greeting a shapely woman, comically introducing himself as the “Fuller bust man”. Ward’s signature appears at bottom right. Known as the founder of the “Torchy Todd” series, Ward specialized in risque drawings of women who were usually confronted by male onlookers. Illustration measures 8.25″ x 11.25″, taped to a cardboard backboard measuring 9.75″ x 11.5″. Slight creasing to bottom right corner, else near fine. Sold for $990.

Signed Illustration Drawn by Comic Book Artist Bill Ward — From the “Sex to Sexty” Series

Signed illustration drawn by comic book artist Bill Ward for the “Sex to Sexty” comic book series. Illustration comically depicts a kindly man lying in bed reading as a shapely woman applies lipstick. On the bottom contains a typed caption “And then again maybe I’m not pregnant…maybe that mailman was telling the truth about his vasectomy”. The same caption is also written to verso as is the phrase “Goose (great gal and gag – inside cover?)”. Ward signs the drawing to bottom right. Measures 11″ x 13.25″. Slight creasing, else near fine. Sold for $700.

Signed Illustration Hand Drawn by Comic Book Artist Bill Ward — Excellent “Good Girl” Art

Conte crayon illustration drawn and signed by comic book artist Bill Ward for the September 1970 edition of the “Zip” comic book series. The illustration depicts a man leering at a shapely woman as they look out on a cityscape. Written near the bottom is the caption “I agree with you completely Miss the view is absolutely…unbelievably fantastic!” Included with the drawing is an original copy of the issue of “Zip” in which the illustration ran. Known as the founder of the “Torchy Todd” series, Ward specialized in risque drawings. Illustration measures 13″ x 18″, taped to a cardboard backboard measuring 14″ x 19.75″. The publishing company “Timely Features” is stamped to verso. Toning, very good. Sold for $700.

Bill Ward Hand Drawn Pin-up Art — Large Charcoal or Conte Crayon Drawing Measures 18″ x 19″

Pin-up drawing by Bill Ward, the creator of cartoon bombshell Torchy Todd. Here, Ward’s mastery of the Good Girl Art genre is showcased in charcoal or conte crayon on paper. Scene depicts a beautiful woman with an exaggerated hourglass figure being presented with a pearl necklace by an older gentleman, who wears an eager expression. Drawing measures 18″ x 19″. Toning and some small tears around the edges of fragile sheet, else near fine. Sold for $700.

Comic Book Artist Bill Ward Signed Drawing — Measures 13″ x 18.5″ — Illustration Appeared on the Rear Cover of “Popular Jokes” Magazine in 1981

Conte crayon illustration drawn and signed by “good girl” comic book artist Bill Ward. Art appears on the rear cover of the February 1981 edition of “Popular Jokes” magazine. The illustration depicts a voluptuous lingerie-clad woman in bed with a shirtless man. Art is mounted to paperboard bearing the caption, “How time flies! Yesterday I was wondering how to make your acquaintance. Today, you feel as I had known you forever!” Surrounding the caption are variations the artist decided against. Lot includes the issue of “Popular Jokes” in which the illustration ran. Illustration measures 13″ x 18.5″. Mounted to mat to an overall size of 14″ x 20″. The publishing company “Timely Features” is stamped to verso. Red pencil notations to verso and toning, overall very good. Sold for $700.

Signed Illustration Drawn by Comic Book Artist Bill Ward — Illustration Appeared as Back Cover Image of November 1980 Edition of “Funhouse Magazine”

Conte crayon illustration drawn and signed by comic book artist Bill Ward, used as the back cover for the November 1980 edition of “Funhouse” magazine. Illustration depicts an eager man helping a shapely woman try on garter belts. Visibly written in pen on a cardboard backing is the caption “We’re getting close but I still don’t see what I want”. Included with the drawing is an original copy of the issue of “Funhouse” in which the illustration ran. Also included is a color trading card featuring a copy of the image as well as a brief biography of Ward. Illustration measures 11.75″ x 16.5″, taped to a cardboard backboard measuring 12.5″ x 18″. The publishing company “Timely Features” is stamped to verso. Near fine. Sold for $700.

Comic Art by Bill Ward — Vintage “Good Girl Art”

Rare signed comic illustration by Bill Ward, the artist behind cartoon siren Torchy Todd. Single-panel “Good Girl Art” comic depicts a voluptuous, scantily-clad woman seated in front of a television. Her male companion reads a newspaper and chews on a pipe. Typed caption at the bottom reads, “I hate these toilet paper ads. Why can’t they talk about something everybody really uses?”. Signed at the lower left by Ward. This cartoon appeared in the cartoon book series “Sex to Sexty” in the late 1960’s. Ink drawing measures 8.25″ x 7.5″. Some editing marks and Ward’s notation of the gag line to verso. Irregularly trimmed right edge, else near fine. Sold for $394.
