The following are some additional lobby cards we sold:
Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” Lobby Card from Universal’s Classic 1935 Film Starring Boris Karloff & Bela Lugosi
Lobby card from Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven”, adapted by Universal in 1935 as one of its marquee horror films. With two of Hollywood’s most bankable stars in the lead, Borris Karloff & Bela Lugosi, the darkly atmospheric and haunting film was considered too strong for 1935 audience’s tastes, but is now held as an exemplar of Universal’s horror franchise, following on the heels of “Dracula” and “Frankenstein”. Lobby card measures 14″ x 11″. Some discoloration to bottom left corner. Overall very good plus condition with still bright colors. Extremely rare. Sold for $5,000.
Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven” Lobby Card From Universal’s Classic 1935 Film Starring Horror Icons Boris Karloff & Bela Lugosi
Extremely rare lobby card from Universal’s “The Raven”, released in 1935. Horror masters Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi were cast in this adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe’s poem, inspired more by the tone of Poe’s work than the actual storyline. Vibrantly colored card features Boris Karloff as Bela Lugosi’s criminal accomplice, here shown choking actor Lester Matthews. Card measures 14″ x 11″. Abrasions and light soiling, mostly confined to margins, and small closed puncture towards top, with tape repair to verso. Overall in very good condition with especially bright colors. Sold for $3,718.
