Albert Einstein Signed First Edition of ”Albert Einstein: Philosopher-Scientist” — Number 274 Out of 760 Printed

Albert Einstein signed limited edition of ”Albert Einstein: Philosopher Scientist”. Published by The Library of Living Philosophers Inc: Evanston, Illinois: 1949. Einstein signs ”Albert Einstein. 49.” upon the limitation page, underneath its identification as #274 of 760 copies. Bound in brown leather boards, with a gold facsimile of Einstein’s signature on the front. Runs 781pp. and measures 6.5” x 9.5”. Very slight toning. Near fine. Sold for $4,688.

Albert Einstein WWII-Dated Typed Letter Signed

Albert Einstein typed letter signed, dated 5 March 1942 on Princeton’s ”The Institute for Advanced Study” letterhead. Einstein writes to an S. Bloom, thanking him for a gift, with an intriguing comment, ”In looking on it I feel sorry for your eyes…[signed] A. Einstein.” Letter measures 5.5” x 6.5”, accompanied by glossy photo of Einstein measuring 4” x 5”. Fold to letter and two small pieces of mounting tape to verso. Near fine condition. Sold for $3,125.

Albert Einstein Envelope Signed From 1917 — To His Close Friend & Colleague Michele Besso

Albert Einstein envelope signed from Berlin in 1917, a few years after he founded the Theory of Special Relativity. Einstein addresses the envelope to his friend Michele Besso, the only person credited on Einstein’s groundbreaking theory; in fact, Einstein wrote in his scientific paper, “In conclusion I wish to say that in working at the problem here dealt with I have had the loyal assistance of my friend and colleague M. Besso, and that I am indebted to him for several valuable suggestions.” Einstein writes his name, “Abs[ender]. A. Einstein” in the lower left corner of the envelope, along with his address in Berlin. In the sendee portion, he writes Besso’s name and address in Zurich. Postmarked from Berlin on 29 April 1917. Measures 6″ x 4.75″. Torn open along top fold and light wear, overall very good condition. Sold for $3,000.

Albert Einstein Signature Autograph Signed Page

Albert Einstein signature, signed “A. Einstein” in black fountain pen upon a slip of paper measuring 5.25″ x 3″. Slip is stationery, with the name and address of Ruth Hendricks of Mamaroneck, New York appearing on verso, along with the date of 12 June 1936 written in pen, and a few other notes. Miss Hendricks was married in August 1936 to Hyman Schulson, a lawyer for the American Zionist Council, who represented the Council at the United Nations in 1948. It was likely in this association that Miss Hendricks knew Einstein and acquired his signature. Mounting remnants to top, overall very good condition. Sold for $2,447.
