Sell Your 1980 Olympics Torch Moscow

The 1980 Summer Olympics were hosted in Moscow, Soviet Union and brought together nearly 5,200 athletes from 80 nations. Turnout this year was low because 66 countries boycotted due to the Soviet-Afghan War. The 1980 Summer Olympic Torch Relay involved nearly 5,500 torchbearers and the Olympic flame traveled about 3,100 miles through Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and the Soviet Union. Basketball star Sergei Belov was given the honor as the concluding torchbearer who lit the cauldron.

Olympic Torch From the 1980 Olympic Games Held in Moscow

Olympic torch from the 1980 Olympic Torch Relay. The Torch Relay tradition was begun in 1928, where a spark from the parent flame in Olympia, Greece ignites the torch that begins the Relay, ending in the host city in time for the opening ceremonies. Torch features lamp-burning mechanism specially designed by Soviet scientists, which allowed the lamp to burn for 48 hours straight. White torch contains circular gold lamp component that is discolored from burning, white base with ”Moscow Olympics” written in Russian and a gold handle with the Moscow Olympic logo. Gold circular component to the bottom of the handle allows the torch to be filled with kerosene. Torch measures 22” long, with the torch opening measuring 3.75”. Slight dent to the underside, scratching and expected discoloration to the burner portion from use. Very good overall. Sold for $2,406.

Bronze Olympic Medal From the 1920 Summer Olympics, Held in Antwerp, Belgium

Bronze medal from the VII Olympiad, won at the games in Antwerp, Belgium in 1920. Medal bears Josue Dupon’s design of an Olympic athlete, inscribed “VII Olympiade” on obverse and “Anvers MCMXX” on reverse. Housed in original red box, with “3rd Prix / VII Olympiade / Anvers 1920″ written in gold lettering. Medal measures 2.5″ in diameter and weighs 83 grams or just over 3 ounces. Box measures 3.25″ x 3.25”. Some wear to the box; very good condition. Medal is near fine. Sold for $6,000.

Bronze Medal From the 1936 Summer Olympics, Held in Berlin, Germany — Won by American Ernest Riedel

Bronze medal from the XI Olympiad, won at the 1936 Berlin Olympic games by American sprint canoeist Ernest Riedel, and accompanied by four other medals given to Riedel as provenance. Olympic medal was won in the K-1 10,000 meter event, and bears relief of the goddess Victory to obverse, as she holds a winner’s crown in her right hand and a palm leaf in her left, accompanied by the inscription, ”XI / Olympiade / Berlin 1936”. Verso bears relief of an Olympian carried through a crowd, with the Olympic stadium in the background. With manufacturer’s mark of ”B.H. Mayer Pforzheim” on rim. Medal measures 55 mm and weighs 2.7 oz. Light wear, else near fine. Lot also includes four other medals won by Riedel: his 1936 Berlin Olympics participation medal, 1948 London Olympics participation medal, A.A.U. Olympic Development Program medal with ribbon, and a medal with Riedel’s name engraved commemorating his achievement as a 1936 Olympian. Sold for $5,000.

Olympic Torch From the 2010 Olympic Games Held in Vancouver

Olympic torch from the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay. The Torch Relay tradition was begun in 1928, where a spark from the parent flame in Olympia, Greece ignites the torch that begins the Relay, ending in the host city in time for the opening ceremonies, in this case Vancouver on 12 February 2010. Elegant white torch has colorful ”Vancouver 2010” to center, and contains silver metal casing featuring ”With Glowing Hearts” written in English and French. Accompanied by official gray cloth case, as well as official unused clothes to be worn by the torchbearer on the relay route. Outfit includes a white, green and blue size XL windbreaker, a ”one size fits all” white knit hat, and red ”Vancouver 2010” knit mittens. Torch measures 37” long and 3” at its widest point. Also includes official certificate of participation from the Olympic organizing committee. Torch has discoloration to top from where flame was lit. Near fine condition overall. Sold for $3,125.

Olympic Torch Used in 2010 Vancouver Winter Games — Signed by Skier Jennifer Heil, Who Won Gold in Torino & Silver in Vancouver

Olympic relay torch used in the 2010 Winter Olympics, signed by gold and silver medalist Jennifer Heil during the 2010 games. The Torch Relay tradition began in 1928 and transports a spark from the parent flame in Olympia, Greece to the host city in time for the opening ceremonies, in this case Vancouver. Elegant white torch bears Vancouver logo and Olympic rings on center and contains silver metal casing that reads, ”WITH GLOWING HEARTS” in English and French. Comes with official gray cloth case. Torch measures 37” long and 3″ wide at its longest point. Light scuffing from use, overall very good condition. Sold for $1,033.
