Sell Your William Osler Autograph at Nate D. Sanders

William Osler was one of the original professors who was selected to work at John Hopkins Hospital when it opened in the late 1880s. At John Hopkins he remodeled the medical school curriculum by creating a hybrid of the English and German systems. The English educational system valued heavy patient interaction in the clinic with books and classroom lectures considered secondary to the learning process. Many believe bringing this practice into play was his greatest contribution to medicine as creating a rapport with each patient reveals much about their conditions than a textbook can identify. The German postgraduate custom of a one year internship and several years of residency was brought to North America by Osler.

Osler spent 16 years at John Hopkins and authored the 1892 book The Principles and Practice of Medicine, which was one of the most important medical textbooks for the next four decades. Following his time at John Hopkins he became the Regius Professorship of Medicine at Oxford University, the highest ranking medical position at the time.
