Hank Williams Sr Autograph Sold

Hank Williams Senior is considered by many to be the one of the first acclaimed country music stars. Williams had his first radio appearance at the tender age of 13 and soon after had a band, “Hank Williams and his Drifting Cowboys”, and was entering talent competitions. Some of Williams’s hits include “Move It On Over”, “Honky Tonkin” and “Lovesick Blues”. Williams tragically passed away at the age of 29, but his music has lived on despite his untimely death. Many artists such as Bob Dyland, Norah Jones and Perry Como have covered his work and several awards have been presented posthumously.

We sold a Hank Williams Sr autograph for $5,161. Here is the description:

Hank Williams Document Signed

Hank Williams document signed 1952 conditional sale contract for the very Cadillac Convertible Coupe that he died in. Third National Bank Time Payment Plan form filled in ink by Williams for a brand new 1952 “Cadilac” for “business and pleasure” for $5,670.16. Signed large and bold in blue ink “Hank Williams.” Hiriam “Hank” Williams, American singer/songwriter, became one of the most influential 20th century musicians. Before his premature death at age 29, Williams created a body of work that formed the backbone of country music and profoundly influenced pop and rock songwriting and vocal performance. Williams’ death was nearly as knotty and complicated as his life. On 1 January 1953, Williams was due to play in Canton, OH. Before leaving Knoxville, TN, he injected himself with B12 and morphine and left in the Cadillac with whiskey. His chauffeur found Williams dead in the back seat in Oak Hill, W. VA. Williams’ illegitimate daughter was born five days later. Williams’ final single was the portentously-titled “I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive.” Williams’ musical legacy includes his son and grandchildren – all successful recording artists. Form, measuring 8.5″ x 11″, has tiny tears at top, “paid” stamp, bottom corner dog-eared. A poignant collectible from the godfather of country. With excellent Hank Williams autograph at bottom. Sold for $5,161.

Williams appeared regularly at the Opry and organized the Drifting Cowboys to tour, along with additional studio musicians, the United States, Canada and Germany. ‘Why Don’t You Love Me’ and ‘Long Gone Lonesome Blues’ were No. 1 hits.
