Django Reinhardt Autograph Sold

Django Reinhardt was a Belgian jazz musician who co-started the Quintette du Hot Club de France, one of the first prominent jazz bands from Europe. Reinhardt is credited for pioneering the jazz genre gypsy jazz and his original music blended the music styles of his Romani roots and current jazz sounds of the time. Many consider Reinhardt to be one of the best guitar players of all time.

Scarce Huddie ”Lead Belly” Ledbetter Autograph Letter Signed

Huddie Ledbetter, aka Lead Belly autograph letter signed, on his personalized ”Sweet Singer of the Swamplands” stationery. George Harrison said of the influential Ledbetter, ”No Lead Belly, no Beatles”, and his songs, such as ”Midnight Special” and ”Cotton Fields”, have been covered by Bob Dylan, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Tom Petty, ABBA, The Grateful Dead, The White Stripes, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin and dozens more. Though enormously influential and popular during his lifetime, Ledbetter struggled financially until his death in 1949, evidenced by this letter, circa early 1940s. Letter reads in part, uncorrected for errors, ”Dear Mr Repelsky i rec all of your letters and [?] But i am in a tuff spot right now but i’m trying all i can to get a $1000 dollars if i can i will send you all the money and you pay to the papers…i am got to pay rent and some more, so pleas for give me for not sending it now…so long H Ledbetter”. Single page measures 8.5” x 11”. Some archival tape to verso, uniform toning and folds. Overall very good condition. Sold for $5,000.

Samuel Francis Smith Handwritten & Signed Copy of “America” — His Magnum Opus, Also Titled “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee”

Samuel Francis Smith complete handwritten manuscript signed of his famous song, “America”. Written in 1832, the song here is written in full, with four stanzas in total, and signed at the conclusion, “S.F. Smith. / 1832-1883.” Card-style document measures 5″ x 8″ with writing on first and third pages. Some showthrough of mounting remnants to verso, and a small separation forming along fold of page two. Near fine condition. An excellent piece for display. Sold for $1,601.

Mick Jagger Autograph Letter Signed From 1965 — With Hand-Addressed Envelope by Mick

Mick Jagger autograph letter signed ”Mick xx” from 1965. Written in blue pen, letter reads in full: ”Dear Linda, Thanks a lot for your letter. I’m sorry I haven’t time to write very much, in a hurry, must go now, Mick xx”. Comes with original envelope postmarked from ”LONDON” on 2 April 1965. The Rolling Stones would release their smash hit, ”(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” just two months later on 6 June 1965. Letter measures 4.9” x 7.25”, envelope measures 5.9” x 3.5”. Envelope is torn from opening. Letter has folds and minor creasing. Both are in very good condition. Sold for $1,250.

Michael Jackson Signed Handwritten Note

Michael Jackson signed handwritten note. Dated 5 May 1985 and composed in red ink to the reverse of a facsimile signed photo, Jackson writes, “Have a monitor put by store front window to play music 24 hour’s A.S.A.P. / M.J.” Measures approximately 7.5″ x 9.5″. Near mint condition. Sold for $1,171.
