Carroll John Daly The Snarl of the Beast 1st Edition

Many consider Carroll John Daly to be the father of the hardboiled detective genre. He wrote novels as well as contributed to the top detective magazines of the 1920s and 1930s, Black Mask and Dime Detective. Daly’s most famous recurring character was private detective Race Williams who first appeared in his 1923 short story “Knights of the Open Palm”. Race Williams appears in several of Daly’s books including The Snarl of the Beast, The Man in the Shadows and The Hidden Hand.
