Franz Liszt Autograph Sold at Auction

Franz Liszt was one of the most brilliant musicians and pianists. His father played several instruments and began giving him piano lessons at the age of five. By age eight he began composing his own music and by nine was performing concerts. He was notable for being able to impressively compose an impromptu piece during live concerts from a melody suggested by a member of the audience. Legend has it that Ludwig van Beethoven attended a concert of Franz Liszt, suggested a melody to compose a song from, then kissed him on the forehead. During his career he composed many pieces, among them are “Hungarian Rhapsodies” and “Piano Sonata in B minor”.
