Thomas Edison and Henry Ford signed photo, dated 28 March 1915 via copyright marking. Photo depicts Edison posing with Henry Ford, both of whom had winter homes nearby each other in Florida. Signed along mat, “Thos A Edsion” and beside his signature, “Henry Ford” with “To Hutch” written above signatures in an unknown hand. Black and white photo measures 9.75″ x 7.5″ and is mounted to a mat to an overall size of 13″ x 11″. Near fine condition. Sold for $3,490.

Thomas Edison signed stock in the Edison Storage Battery Company, presciently founded in 1901 to manufacture batteries for electric cars. Dated 17 July 1901, Edison signs ”Thomas A. Edison” as President. Attractive document printed in green and black measures 13.25” x 8”. Stock is marked as cancelled with a faint swivel through Edison’s signature, and staple punctures to left edge, otherwise near fine. Sold for $2,500.
Thomas Edison Signed Stock Certificate for ”Edison Phonograph Works”
Thomas Edison signs a stock certificate ”Thos A Edison” as President of Edison Phonograph Works of New Jersey. Dated 18 May 1888, the year of the company’s founding, it’s issued to R.L. Cutting in the amount of 200 shares. Best known as inventor of the incandescent light bulb, Edison was also the genius behind the phonograph, kinetoscope (an early machine to view motion pictures), ore-mill machinery, the dictating machine and more. With the phonograph, Edison pioneered sound recording. Stock certificate measures approximately 8” x 4”. Some discoloration along left side and various unobtrusive cancellation marks. In very good condition with a bold signature by Edison. Sold for $2,520.

Thomas Edison limited signed edition of ”A Million And One Nights: A History of The Motion Picture”, published by Simon & Schuster: New York: 1926. Two-volume set is #142 in a first edition limited to 327 copies. Volume 1 is signed, ”Thos A. Edison” in black ink on a page bearing his printed endorsement of the book and its author. It is also signed by the author, ”Terry Ramsaye” upon the limitation page and also bears his autograph inscription to a half-title page, reading, ”Inscribed to / THE IRENE KUHN / in affection as a friend / in appreciation as a coworker / in admiration as a contemporary / performer on the stage of life / Terry Ramsaye / June 6, 1938 / New York”. Lengthy work runs 868pp. total. Top edges gilt. Beautifully rebound in terracotta cloth boards with leather spines and gilt lettering. Both volumes measure 7.75” x 10.75”. Insect damage to the margins of approximately 15 pages of Volume 1 not affecting text or plates and a chip to gilt on top edge, else near fine. Front boards of Volume 2 show staining, else very good. Sold for $1,875.

Elegantly Signed Copy of Thomas Edison’s Biography, “Boy’s Life”
Thomas Edison signed copy of his biography, “Boy’s Life”. Also signed and inscribed by the book’s author, William Meadowcraft. Meadowcraft was a confidant and colleague of Edison, therefore gaining personal insight into his life. Harper & Brothers: New York: 1921. Signed by Edison, “Thomas A. Edison” in black ink with his famous “umbrella” signature above Meadowcraft’s inscription, which reads, “To my esteemed friend, C.M. Riley, with kindest regards and good wishes, Wm H. Meadowcraft / December 3, 1925”. Also includes a second facsimile signature by Edison. In original blue cloth boards with an illustration of Edison to cover. Runs 360pp. Toning to pages and minor wear to board edges. Very good. Sold for $1,606.
Thomas and Mina Edison’s Letter to Their Daughter — “…glad to hear that the phonograph dance music was a success. / Daddy E.”
Thomas Edison’s signed inscription closes a letter penned by his wife, Mina Miller Edison, to their daughter, Madeleine, in college at Bryn Mawr. The great inventor writes: “Hope you got thru your examinations OK – glad to hear that the phonograph dance music was a success. Daddy E.” The phonograph was an invention of his. The 3pp. card-style, undated letter on “Glenmont / Llewellyn Park” (their New Jersey home) stationery measures 6″ x 7.25″. Minor soiling, else near fine. Sold for $1,606.

Photograph signed by Thomas A. Edison and his wife, Mina Miller Edison. Photo measures 7.5″ x 9.5″ mounted and is boldly signed in ink by both Edison and his wife. Presumably given as a gift to Mr. Gilbert Aubrey Davidson with whom the Edisons’ were close friends. Accompanied by letter of provenance from Davidson’s grandson, William. Clipping and bending to corners and overall wear, else good condition. Sold for $1,463.
Thomas Edison Signed Copy of ”His Life And Inventions” — Rare Signed Volume by Edison
Thomas Edison signed copy of ”His Life and Inventions”. Published by Harper & Brothers: New York: 1910, and written by Frank Lewis Dyer and Thomas Commerford Martin, two volume set is a biography and cataloging of Edison’s life and works. Edison boldly signs the front free endpaper of the first volume, which features 26 black and white photographs, and runs 988 pages in total. Bound in navy blue cloth boards, and with the title, author, publisher and crest design printed in gold to the spine. Binding of first volume is partially detached. Second volume contains slight cocking to the spine, and is starting to separate. Each measures 5.5” x 8.5”. Staining to cover of first volume. Very good condition overall. Sold for $1,331.

Thomas Edison limited signed edition of ”A Million And One Nights: A History of The Motion Picture”. New York: Simon & Schuster, 1926. First edition is limited to 327 copies. Volume 1 is signed, ”Thos A. Edison” in black ink with his iconic umbrella signature on a page bearing his printed endorsement of the book and its author. It is also signed by the author, ”Terry Ramsaye” upon the limitation page. First volume runs 400pp. in its original boards, very rare as such. Volume I only, missing Volume II, measures 7” x 9.75”. In well-preserved condition, with private library label on front pastedown, some toning and foxing, and binding starting to separate very slightly. An unusually nice copy, overall in very good condition. Sold for $1,200.

Thomas Edison and William McKinley signatures on opposite side of a single leaf. Edison signs, ”Thomas A Edison” elegantly in ink, with a ”Maria Miller Edison – Glenmont (?) Park / July 21, 1925” in an unknown hand below and ”Spring 1912” above in pencil. McKinley signs, ”William McKinley / Dec 6 1897” to verso. Sheet measures 7” x 3” with a chip to top left corner and minor toning. Very good condition. Sold for $938.
Thomas Edison signed check upon the Edison Botanic Research Corporation account. Written to Clevens & Phelps Inc. for $120.70, undated check is signed ”Thos. A. Edison”. Measures 8.25” x 3”. Toning and usual bank cancellation marks. Also includes a 6.25” x 3.5” Thomas Edison 100th Anniversary First Day Cover, postmarked 11 February 1947. Both are matted to an overall size of 13.5” x 13.25”. Near fine condition. Sold for $825.

Thomas Edison check signed with his famous umbrella signature during the penultimate year of his life. The great inventor signs ”Thos A. Edison” as President of his Edison Botanic Research Corporation. Check, date stamped 18 December 1929 is also signed by the company’s treasurer, addressed to a Charles Dally in the amount of twenty-seven dollars. Measures 8.5” x 3”. Check has been matted and framed to an overall size of 15.5” x 22.25”. Standard bank cancellations, else near fine. Sold for $787.

Thomas Edison signature, with his famous umbrella flourish. Signature is upon a 2.75” x 1.5” slip of paper, framed underneath a reproduction of the ”Harper’s Weekly” showing Edison experimenting in his workshop. Entire presentation is handsomely framed in wood to a size of 20” x 28”. Near fine condition. Sold for $750.
Thomas Edison handwrites an undated note in pencil to Jaffrey Buchanan, his employee at Edison Chemical Factory. Note reads in full, ”I find 44 men on your payroll. Cant you do a little Better than this”. He signs boldly, ”Edison”. Light toning to 5” x 8” note, else very good. Sold for $686.
