At Nate D. Sanders Auctions we sold the following El Libertador Simon Bolivar autograph for $2,942. Here is the description:
Simon Bolivar Document Signed
Simon Bolivar document signed, written on “Supreme Chief of the Republic, Captain-General of the Armies of Venezuela and New Granada” letterhead. Bolivar led a broad spirited independence movement in South America, establishing and becoming President of what was then known as Gran Colombia, a territory consisting of present day Colombia, Panama, Ecuador, Venezuela, and the northern portions of Peru and Brazil. Bolivar signs his name with a flourish, signing “Bolivar” above a large paraph. Document authorizes the sale of two mules, with left side listing fabrics and fineries purchased. Measures 10″ x 8″. Toning, foxing and small pinholes along fold. Very good condition. Sold for $2,942.
Simon Bolivar 1820 Document Signed as First President
Simon Bolivar document signed, composed on his letterhead as President of the Republic of Colombia, his title after initial victories against the Spanish government in South America. Dated 20 February 1820 during continued fighting, Boliver writes to the Commander General of the Antioquia Province, ordering all available troops to march against the Province of Mompox. Boldly signed “Bolivar” at the conclusion. Two page document on a single sheet measures 6.75″ x 9″. Folds and uniform toning, otherwise near fine condition. Sold for $2,750.

Rare military appointment signed by South American revolutionary leader Simon Bolivar. Spanish-language official Republica De Colombia manuscript dated 27 August 1825 is signed large and bold to lower portion. Known as the “George Washington of South America,” Simon Bolivar defeated the Spanish in 1819 and helped to liberate Peru and Bolivia. Document measures 8.25″ x 13″. Very good condition. Sold for $1,800.
