James Watt autograph letter signed. Letter of introduction by the Industrial Revolution figure and eponym for the watt is addressed to his equally accomplished contemporary, the famous astronomer Dr. William Herschel. Letter reads in part, ”…introducing to you my friend…Mr. Corrie who wishes much to make your acquaintance & who you will find a well-informed gentleman…[signed] James Watt.” Single-page letter on card-style stationery measures 4.5” x 7”. Chip to corners of integral blank, else near fine. Sold for $1,875.
