American Novelist Thomas Pynchon Autograph on a Typed Letter — “…I would of course be happy to sign some books for your son – it would be an honor…” — 1986 — With PSA/DNA COA

Thomas Pynchon typed letter signed. The notoriously reclusive author dates the letter 21 August 1986 and writes: “…Thank you for your letter, and please excuse my delay in answering. I would of course be happy to sign some books for your son – it would be an honor to help out. He is fortunate to have you as a source of love and support. People have told me that lymphoma is a tough fight, and I don’t see how it’s possible to neglect – or underestimate – the spirit, and the will to prevail. I know somebody, in fact, with a similar diagnosis, whose eventual survival depended on just that. Right now I’m in transit so the best way to do this is by way of my agent…[signed] Thomas Pynchon”. Thomas Pynchon, famed author of “Gravity’s Rainbow,” is notoriously reluctant to sign his acclaimed and controversial novels, though here proves that he will do so for a good cause. Letter measures approximately 8.5″ x 11″. In very good condition. Accompanied by COA from PSA/DNA.   Sold for $2,925.
