Audrey Hepburn Costume from Her “Best Dramatic Actress” Tony Award-Winning Role in “Ondine”
Audrey Hepburn costume from her “Best Dramatic Actress” Tony Award-winning role in production “Ondine.” White chiffon Medieval gown designed by Edith Luytens. Period gown is full length silk/satin with silk chiffon outer layer under layer of silk jersey, a shell of satin. Bodice backed with heavy silk. The three-quarter sleeves have hook-and-eye closures. Attached to bodice are flowing scarves in two pieces on each side. Center front of boned bodice decorated with faux pearls, sequins, seashells. Long train on dress. Skirt snaps up the back with hook and eye closure. Sewn-in label: “Edith Luytens/Audrey Hepburn.” Attached tag: “Ondine — Ms. Audrey Hepburn as Ondine. White chiffon Medieval gown.” Chiffon over layer has stains, large holes at top of sleeve, on the shoulder line. Holes, tears, stains on chiffon train. Beading in good condition. Chiffon ground stretched under weight. A small tear at neckline of beaded panel. Exquisite costume worn by a true legend of stage and silver screen. A rare item worn by a unique actress. Very nice. Sold in 2004 in our Audrey Hepburn costume auction.
Rare Audrey Hepburn autograph 8” x 10” photo, depicting her as Eliza Doolittle from ”My Fair Lady”. Near fine condition, with a bold signature. With a COA from JSA. Sold for $2,250.
Audrey Hepburn Autograph Letter Signed to “My Fair Lady” Set Designer — “…Thank you very very much for your great kindness in this and during the picture…”
Audrey Hepburn autograph letter signed. Undated letter is addressed to George Hopkins, set designer from “My Fair Lady”. Letter in blue ink on Villa Suvretta stationery reads in full, “Dear Mr. Hopkins, I am sorry not to have written sooner but have been moving around quite a lot, and the mail that managed to catch up with me, I have not had much time to catch up with!! I was thrilled to hear that the music stand had been sent, and am quite overcome by your and W.B.’s tremendous generosity. Have had an ecstatic letter from Miss Seton, to quote her, ‘It will always be my most prized possession’ so it looks like among us all we have made someone very happy. Thank you very very much for your great kindness in this and during the picture. Affectionately, Audrey H. / Heartsick to hear dear old Roy passed away.” Letter runs two pages on a single sheet. Measures 5.75″ x 7″. Toning and some blurring to ink on top and bottom edges. Very good. Provenance from the estate of Tomatsu Higashi, George Hopkins’ partner. Sold for $1,885.90.
”My Fair Lady” book inscribed by Audrey Hepburn on the front free endpaper: ”To Paul. Best wishes Audrey Hepburn”. 8.5” x 11.25” hardcover book was printed as a promotional accompaniment to the 1964 movie starring Hepburn. Featuring full-color and black-and-white pictures of the cast, crew and set of the film, this book also contains lyrics from the music and anecdotes about the production. A very attractive copy, with some rubbing to rear board. In very good plus condition. Sold for $916.
