Cluster pendant style necklace features a central brilliant cut diamond, wreathed in princess cut emeralds, all surrounded by a ring of small brilliant cut diamonds in a white gold setting. Dates to circa 1930-40. Pendant measures just over 0.5” in diameter on a 16” chain. Housed in original green and white Barney’s New York fabric case. Barely noticeable chip to one of the emeralds. Marlene Dietrich’s own men’s tuxedo. Dietrich’s signature androgynous look began onscreen with the taboo-crushing scene in her first American movie, “Morocco,” in which she dons a tux and kisses a woman. Off-screen she perpetuated the androgynous image the scene created, often dressing in men’s clothes. This ensemble dates to the 1970’s-80’s, during which she performed in tuxes in Las Vegas. Lot includes a navy blue double-breasted dinner jacket with black silk lapels, matching trousers and bowtie. Dietrich’s daughter Maria Riva quotes Dietrich, who said the following about the scene from “Morocco”, “…The best part of Morocco is when I am in my own tails…The audience, of course, is expecting the legs – so you see her in trousers first!…You know for some reason Garbo looks terrible in men’s clothes – which is strange, because everyone says she’s one of ‘the girls’. You know what I do in the tails? I go over to a pretty woman at a table and kiss her – on the mouth – then I take the gardenia she is wearing put in under my nose and inhale it…Then I flick the flower to [Gary] Cooper. The audiences go wild. Can you imagine if even Americans get that scene, What will happen once the film opens in Europe?…” Jacket measures 20″ across the chest. Pleated trousers measure 28.5″ at the waist with a 28.5″ inseam. Alterations have been made to jacket and trousers. Pants are missing a button and hem has been taken out. Some minor wear to fabric. Marlene Dietrich Personally Owned Underwood No. 5 Typewriter

Marianne Dietrich personally owned Underwood typewriter. Often described as the quintessential antique typewriter, the first of the true typewriters, this ”Number 5” model has a black enameled metal frame with four rows of keys below curved band of keys and rubber paper roll. Keys still work. Measures 11.5” x 9.5” x 12” deep with some minor wear. Typewriter is heavy measuring 29 lbs. Near fine. From the estate of Marlene Dietrich. Sold for $5,000.

Marlene Dietrich personally owned prismatic cut gold tone cigarette with low raised geometric faceted motifs. Laminaire Vinci brand lighter was made in France. Lighter measures 1” x 1.75” and lid no longer closes properly, else very good condition. From the estate of Marlene Dietrich. Sold for $3,125.

Marlene Dietrich’s own makeup compact in a piano design by Volupte. Brass compact features a gilt mirror and separate compartment for pressed powder with original pink application cloth. The exterior features black and white paint to piano keys. Dates from 1948-1954. Measures 3” x 3”. Weighs 5 ounces. Tarnishing and make-up on the cloth. In very good condition. Marlene Dietrich’s own “Bird in Hand” makeup compact. Brass compact features textured winds with gold painted tips and red enamel eyes. It opens to a mirror and unused pouf made of soft real feathers, with additional hinged compartment for pressed powder. A lipstick tube emerges from behind the bird’s head and the tail opens as a pillbox compartment. The name “Dali” is engraved and painted in black under the bird’s neck on the base of the lipstick tube, but no documentation exists to suggest Salvador Dali designed the bird, rather Ellison Irelan, Carl Fritz and Mortimer Vogelman are credited with the design. Compact dates to 1951. Measures 4.5″ from beak to tail and 2.75″ across. Weighs 5 ounces. Void of make-up. Some rubbing and scratching to finish, else near fine. From the estate of Marlene Dietrich.  Marlene Dietrich personally owned Sleigh Bells compact by Coty from the early 1940’s. Gold tone brass compact features six bells attached to a scalloped edge. Opens to a mirror and compartment featuring pressed powder on the right and blush on the left. Compact was designed for the cosmetics giant by Arthur R. Botham, with a patented element by William Shoemaker. This is among the last metal compacts Coty made before metal rationing during WWII. Measures 3.75″ x 3″. Powder section is empty, but the actual blush is still present as if never used. Mirror is detached and shows a small crack to the bottom near center, else compact is near fine. Marlene Dietrich’s own nightgown. Beautiful full-length satin nightgown has tan lace trim and cap sleeves, in the Hollywood Regency style. Nightgown ties in the back and measures 4’8″ in total length. A near indiscernible small spot on back, otherwise near fine. From the estate of Marlene Dietrich. Sold for $2,245.

Marlene Dietrich personally owned cigarette box stocked with 15 cigarettes. Metal box features an applied floral and butterfly design on the hinged lid, which opens to reveal a gilt interior with built-in sixteen-iteration bed. Bed holds 15 filterless cigarettes by French maker Gitanes, in the “Mais” variety, rolled in yellow corn paper. Box rests on four feet and features a Park Sherman maker’s mark. Measures 7.5″ x 4″ x 1″. Weighs 1 pound, 1 ounce. Tarnishing, else near fine. From the estate of Marlene Dietrich. Sold for $2,000.

Marlene Dietrich’s pocket crucifix set, made of silver tone metal. Cross features red inlays all along the beams and orange and white mosaic inlays within the trefoil end caps. Crucifix suspends from a ring at the top, which hangs from a hook mounted within a fitted leather case on a brown velour backing. Dates to the 19th century. “Fornitori Pontifici / Al Pellegrino Cattolico / Roma / Via Di Porta Angelica 83”, indicating crucifix is by “Papal Suppliers” brand, sold at a shop at the Vatican in Rome. Measures 1.25″ x 2.5″, within case measuring 2.25″ x 3.75″. Corpus has detached at the feet and right arm, some mosaic loss and a small stain to case. In good condition.
