Very rare archive of memorabilia related to the world premiere of ''Gone With the Wind'' in 1939. Archive not only includes two movie tickets to the premiere and program, but also two tickets and program to the Atlanta ''Gone With the Wind'' gala ball that occurred one day before the movie premiere. Items associated with the gala ball are particularly scarce and desirable. Lot includes:
1-2) Two ticket stubs to the Atlanta Junior League ''Gone With the Wind'' world premiere ball, held 14 December 1939. Each stub measures approximately 2'' x 2.25''. Very good condition.
3) Program to the Atlanta Junior League ''Gone With the Wind'' world premiere ball, with red covers lettered in gilt highlighting photos from the film. Program includes description of the night's events, including attendance by the film executives and celebrities, history of Atlanta and costume reenactments from the Civil War era. The ball was even nationally broadcast. Photos of Margaret Mitchell and the film's stars throughout, as well as local ads and information about the Atlanta Junior League. Measures 7.25'' x 10.5''. Unpaginated, but approximately 96pp. Light creasing and wear, overall in very good plus condition.
4-5) Two ticket stubs to the film's world premiere, at Loew's Grand Theatre in Atlanta on 15 December 1939. Rimmed in gilt with a pictorial illustration of Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara, each stub measures approximately 2.25'' x 3.5''. Stamped 762 and 763 on verso. Light wear, overall in very good plus condition.
6) Illustrated ''Gone With The Wind'' movie program featuring cast bios and articles written by Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable on playing the iconic roles of Scarlett O'Hara and Rhett Butler. Program also features production notes and more than a dozen color sketches and photographs. Measures 9'' x 12'' and runs 20pp. Foxing and wear to covers, and 1.5'' split along bottom seam; interior is near fine.
7) Several pages of newsclippings from December 1939 covering the events.
A fantastic collection, originating from the estate of Mrs. Francis Bird, who was one of the committee members for the ball.
