''Dark Town Battery'' mechanical bank, circa 1888 when it was patented. Clever bank works by placing a coin in the pitcher's hand and then moving his head until his batting arm locks in place, then pressing the lever so that the coin is ''pitched'', which the batter misses as it's projected directly into the bank by the catcher. Designed by James H. Bowen and manufactured by J. & E. Stevens & Co., Cromwell, CT. ''Darktown Battery'' appears on the base. Measures 9.75'' long, 7'' tall and 2.75'' wide. Bright colors with some paint loss, overall in very good, working condition.
