Winston Churchill typed letter signed as Prime Minister, regarding corrections to his highly acclaimed memoir, ''The Second World War''. Churchill writes on his Prime Minister letterhead, embossed with ''10, Downing Street'', on 19 September 1953 to Commodore Gordon Allen, part of his ''Syndicate'' who helped him write the book series. Letter reads in part, ''Here are some very interesting comments by Admiral [Robert] Carney. I should be so much obliged if you will check our account by these, and see whether any alterations are necessary. I noticed that we omitted to state in our account that Admiral Carney was Chief of the Staff. His agreeable letter shows that he was not in the least offended. I shall be very glad if you will send me back our Chapter, with any suggested alterations, and also if you will explain to me the points we have omitted or about which there is a difference....[signed] Winston S. Churchill''. Letter measures 7.5'' x 9.5''. Rust from paperclip at top left, otherwise near fine condition with bold signature.
