Winston Churchill letter signed, dated 21 October 1908 as President of the Board of Trade, a British Cabinet position served by Churchill as the youngest Cabinet member since the mid-1800s. Churchill writes to Reverend J. Wales Cameron in full, ''I should regard it as a great pleasure and a very high honour to be associated with the Students of Edinburgh, and to attend the meetings of the University Court. I should use all means in my power to promote the interests of the University and of its great Medical School. / Believe me, Yours very faithfully, / [signed] Winston S. Churchill''. Single page letter on Board of Trade bifolium stationery measures 5'' x 8''. Single fold and a few smudges, overall very good to near fine condition. Body of letter was likely handwritten by Churchill's secretary Edward Marsh, who pens a second letter included in the lot. Also on Board of Trade stationery, Marsh writes an intriguing letter to Cameron, referring to a ''very funny'' situation, and thanking Cameron for the ''pit which yawns in front of'' Churchill, adding, ''He was of course entirely ignorant that he was contravening a tittle of the law.''
