Winston Churchill autograph letter signed with interesting content about a long road ahead, possibly concerning Britain's return to the Gold Standard in 1925. Addressed to Observer newspaper editor James Garvin, Churchill writes as Chancellor of the Exchequer on 15 November 1928 (possibly 1925), in full: ''My dear Garvin, I am going to read y'r delightful + comforting letter to my wife. The road is strong+ painful + uphill; but we know of no reason to doubt our powers of traversing it if all continues to go well. I trust I shall see you Sunday, Yours always, W.'' Single page measures 5'' x 8'' on card-style stationery with embossed seal and lettering for ''Treasury Chambers, Whitehall, S.W.'' Fold and light creasing, otherwise near fine.
