War hero and aviation pioneer Henry ''Hap'' Arnold typed letter signed on 31 May 1945, written on Army Air Forces letterhead in Washington. Arnold writes to Mr. James Clair Luckey, a recent graduate and Navy recruit: ''...I wish it might be possible for me to see you graduate, but as you can well imagine about the only time I get out of Washington is to visit war fronts. I notice you have selected the Navy as your branch of Service, and while we would have liked to have had you in the AAF, I know you will do a grand job as a member of that part of Uncle Sam's fighting team. Sincerely, [signed] HH Arnold''. Letter measures 8'' x 10.5''. Folds, else near fine. With original ''War Department'' envelope.
