Ticket to the ceremony for the reading and signing of the Israeli Declaration of Independence on 14 May 1948. Only 250 individuals attended this private ceremony at the Tel Aviv Museum (now Independence Hall), kept secret for fear of interruption by the British authorities or Arab militants. At the ceremony, David Ben-Gurion - Israel's first Prime Minister, read the newfound Declaration of Independence and then signed it along with other Israeli leaders. Card-style ticket measures 4.125" x 5.625" as folded. Stapled to the interior is a handwritten note designating the seat number in Hebrew. Near fine condition. From the estate of a journalist who attended the event.
