Sheldon Mayer's personal day planner from 1944 when Mayer was editing and creating content for All-American Publications, one of the companies that would ultimately form DC Comics. Mayer filled-in nearly every day of this planner, mentioning almost all the characters and titles in the AA canon, including Flash, Boy Blue, 3 Mousketeers, Ghost Patrol, Wildcat, Wonder Woman, Mutt & Jeff, F.S. [Funny Stuff], Sargon [the Sorcerer], All Star [Comics], Starman, B.[lack] Pirate, The Whip, Bulldog Drumhead, G.L. [Green Lantern], The Atom, Jolaine [Publications] and more. Almost every day Mayer lists various comic artists, pairing them with the title, including the issue number and pages, possibly referencing the deadline for that particular issue, such as the entry on 18 July: ''Reinman / 12PP G.L. / July #67-AA''. Some of the comic artists mentioned in the planner are ''M.C.G.'' referring to his boss M.C. Gaines, such as in his 26 January entry, ''See M.C.G. re all star also re Flash'', or his 31 January entry, ''Joe Kubert pencils Sargon''. On 23 April he draws a funny doodle and on 14 July he writes, ''get checks for Ving [Fuller] from Moe [Worthman]''. Some of the other artists he mentions are Joe Gallagher, Sheldon Moldoff, Homer Fleming, Ed Wheelan, Paul Reinman, Gardner Fox, Dennis Neville, and Marin Nodell, sometimes with references to pay, and assigning artists to specific strips. A few notes are also tucked into the book, written on both Sheldon Mayer's personal notepads, and also on M.C. Gaines' notepad. The day planner ends on 31 December, with that page and the opposing page filled in with dozens of entries for specific strips and prices. Planner measures 5.25'' x 7.75'', with each page assigned to one calendar day. Bound in blue boards with gold lettering. Some cocking to spine and light wear, overall in very good condition. A treasure trove detailing the inner workings of the comic industry during its Golden Age.
