Rare large-format Royal Air Force lithograph poster, designed to train World War I pilots the basics of flight. With the Wright Brothers having only completed their public airshows a decade earlier, a mastery of aviation - let along combat flying, was uncharted territory. Evocative poster entitled ''Night Flying - Holt Flares & Mist'' warns pilots not to use flares while landing in fog at night as it obscures the ground. Published by Air Technical Services, dated 1 January 1919. With Air Ministry and Royal Air Force stamps on verso. Two-tone lithograph measures 40'' x 27''. Light wear along margins, overall very good plus condition.
