Rare large-format Royal Air Force lithograph poster, designed to train World War I pilots the basics of flight. With the Wright Brothers having only completed their public airshows a decade earlier, a mastery of aviation - let along combat flying, was uncharted territory. Poster entitled ''Getting Off - Engine Failure'' tells pilots what to do in event of engine failure to avoid a crash. Published by Air Technical Services, dated 11 June 1918. With Air Ministry and Royal Air Force stamps on verso. Two-tone lithograph measures 40'' x 27''. A few spots of discoloration, and wear along margins. Overall very good condition.
