Rare large-format Royal Air Force lithograph poster, designed to train World War I pilots the basics of flight. With the Wright Brothers having only completed their public airshows a decade earlier, a mastery of aviation - let along combat flying, was uncharted territory. Poster entitled ''Night Flying - 'Searchlights''' instructs pilots how to approach enemy territory at night, and how to evade being shot down. Published by Air Technical Services, dated 28 October 1918. With Air Ministry and Royal Air Force stamps on verso. Two-tone lithograph measures 40'' x 27''. Some wear and small paper loss confined to margins, overall very good plus condition.
