Rare Presidential campaign medal from the 1844 contest pitting Whig candidate Henry Clay against Democrat James Polk. Clay is featured on one side of this medal, with President George Washington on the reverse; Washington was venerated by several groups who also supported Clay during the election, including the Native American community. Metal with desired ''pewter rim'' measures 2.5'' in diameter. Loop at top of medal has been replaced. Some spotting to metal and foxing to paper images, overall very good plus condition.
