Queen Victoria letter signed as Queen of the United Kingdom, dated 27 June 1837, just seven days after Victoria ascended the throne. Victoria writes to Maria Theresa, Queen of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, announcing her ascension to the throne and also renewing the credentials of William Temple as the UK Extraordinary Envoy and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Italian Kingdom. She begins, ''Upon ascending the throne of this Kingdom, I have deemed it one of my first duties to confirm and renew the credential granted by his late Majesty, My Most Honored and Beloved Uncle, King William the Fourth...'' Victoria handwrites at the conclusion of the letter, ''Madam my Sister, Your Majesty's good Sister / Victoria R.'' Composed on black-bordered mourning stationery to honor the death of King William IV. Bifolium measures 7.25'' x 9'' unfolded, with two black wax seals bearing the Queen's crest and adorned with black silk ribbon. Small holes at intersecting folds. Very good condition with bold writing by Queen Victoria, the longest reining monarch in British history.
