Queen Victoria signs an army commission, dated 23 February 1887, the year of her Golden Jubilee. The Queen appoints George Hilliard as surgeon in the ''...Medical Staff of our Army...'' She signs in the upper left corner above an intact blindstamped seal. Secretary of State for War, Edward Stanhope countersigns the commission at the lower right. A one pound, ten shilling stamp is affixed to the left edge. Document is silked on verso. Minor soiling, else near fine.
