Matched pair of King George IIII silver lidded sauce tureens. Double-handled tureens are rectangular in form with gadroon-type design to rims, accented by shell and foliate designs. The lids feature a later engraving of a buck's head. With marks to the underside of T & J Guest and Joseph Cradock, London 1809. Rims are dot-numbered 3 & 4. Each measures 8.75'' across and weighs 1 pound, 11 ounces. Both lids show a minor ding, else near fine. Previously sold at Sotheby's in their April 2014 European Silver sale, lot 269 for $3,125.
