Typed letter signed, ''Orville Wright'', accompanied by two documents signed in type and other National Aeronautic Association documents related to record-breaking flight trials. Signed letter is dated 18 May, 1923. Addressed to one B. Russell Shaw of the National Aeronautic Association, letter reads in part, ''...it was by merest chance that any of us were present at the landing, as we mistook another plane, which appeared to land in the city, for the Douglas Torpedo...'' Single-page letter on Wright's personal stationery measures 7.25'' x 9.5''. Pencil notation at the bottom, else near fine. Accompanied by further typed pages in a portfolio with NAA seal on the cover. Wright also signs two pages in type as Official Observer of a trial held at McCook Field in Dayton, Ohio, ''To establish an altitude record carrying 1000 kilograms...'' Package runs 14pp. Some small tears to portfolio edges and scattered ink notations, else near fine.
