Original World War I poster from 1918 featuring Joan of Arc holding a sword and exclaiming ''Joan of Arc Saved France...Women of America Save Your Country Buy War Savings Stamps''. Created by artist Haskell Coffin, the artwork adopts the image of Joan of Arc, popularized at the time by the 1916 film ''Joan the Woman''. Published by the U.S. Treasury Department, the poster also encouraged buying war savings stamps, a less expensive option which women could collect into a booklet equal to a full war bond. Measures 20'' x 30''. Minor creasing to edges and a few pieces of archival tape repair to verso covering pinholes at top. Near fine condition. Another example of this poster is in the collection of the Library of Congress.
