Original World War II broadside from 1942, warning people of Japanese ancestry living in San Francisco that they are to evacuate before noon on 11 May 1942 or risk ''criminal penalties...apprehension and internment''. The directive was the result of Civilian Exclusion Order No. 41, which authorized the removal of those of Japanese ancestry regardless of citizenship status or threat. Over 100,000 individuals were subsequently moved to concentration camps as a result, many for the duration of the war. Large broadside was intended for public display, though this copy is in pristine condition and likely uncirculated. Measures 14'' x 22'' on semi-rigid cardstock. Very minor toning, overall near fine condition.
