Block of Aquia sandstone collected from the White House during its 1950 renovation when much of the original White House interior was reconstructed. George Washington famously selected Aquia sandstone to be used in the White House when it was built in 1792, which is quarried only at Aquia Creek in Virginia. Sandstone block features the official restoration plaque reading, ''Original White House Material / Removed in 1950'', with the Great Seal of the United States at center. Measures 4.125'' x 4.125'' x 2''. Normal wear and chipping, overall very good condition.
