Napoleon Bonaparte letter signed as Emperor of France, dated 23 October 1807. Writing from Milan to his stepson, Prince Eugene de Beauharnais, letter in French translates,
''Au palais de Milan / My son, I am giving the order to the Grand Duke de Berg to go to Lodi to review the dragoon squadrons there. Give the orders so that the squadrons are ready tomorrow, upon the arrival of the Grand Duke. Thereupon I pray God will keep you well. / Your affectionate father / Napoleon''.
Visible portion of letter measures 7.875'' x 7.375'', matted and framed with a portrait of Napoleon to 20'' x 14''. Not examined out of frame. Shallow folds and foxing, overall in very good condition. With Christie's lotting tag to verso.
