Letter and poem read, "cousin of mine who is one of the largest if not the largest fur house in the north west and there you can pick what your like and get it very, very cheap. Nice? And in case Lilly, Clarice or yourself want any dress trimmings let me know what it is and I can get it awfully cheap from the salesmen here. Honey on account of your flattery I've taken to writing poetry nights. Isn't he the sweetest thing. I like to just the same. I don't need dad's firnis[?] goods or samples now at least not yet. Harvey is going to do a lot of clothing buying while he is there. Everything going smoothly so far.
Don't worry honey. Everything will be alright. I'm longing to see your sweet face dearheart and kiss your tiny mouth. I adore you. May God bless your and keep you safe, well and happy forever

My thoughts of you.
I think of you when I open my eyes.
That's why I can't see a thing

That's why I fall on my ear
I bump my nose and skin my head
No it's not cause I'm drunk my dear
I think of you as I put my socks on
That's why they're on inside out
They're all full of holes and the garters are gone
I don't know what it's all about.
I think of you as I put on my pants
That's why I can't get them on
And all that a person would need is a glance
To know that my heart and mind's gone.
I think of you as I put on my shoes
That's why each is on the wrong foot.
But all these mistakes couldn't give me the blues
For I know where I want my shoes put
Then I think of you while I am washing
That's why I get soap in my eyes
Now Sweetheart you know I'm not joshing
Now am I telling you lies
Then I think of you while I finish dressing
But really I never get dressed
And that fact is not one but distressing
While with sweet thoughts of you I am blessed
Then I think of you while I am shaveing
Thats just why I cut my chin
If I don't cut out my thought raveing
What a terrible shape I'll be in.
I think of you while I use my tooth brush
Thats why I used shaveing cream
Everything that I do is done in a rush
Even things that I do in a dream
Then I think of you when I'm combing my hair
Thats why that part's never straight
Honey I'm thinking my brain needs the air. Or a look at you. Mosey can't wait.
I think of you as I'm leaving my room
That's why I've forgotten my hat
I'm beginning to think that my brain needs a broom
Or perhaps it's my head getting flat.
And I think of you too as I'm crossing the street
Thats why I almost get hit.
By an auto or car, on my way to eat
Its a wonder I'm here to write it
Then I think of you while I'm eating
That's why I've got egg on my vest
You'd think that my clothes I was feeding
Instead of my stomach distressed."
