Margaret Brundage's hauntingly beautiful untitled oil on canvas board features a naked young woman stretching back in a dreamlike, ethereal setting. Brundage achieved a cult following for her erotically illustrated covers for the pulp magazine ''Weird Tales'' from 1933 to 1938. Her work on ''Weird Tales'' frequently featured young nude or semi-nude women in various compromised or distressed situations, leading to censorship that dampened her career. Signed at lower right.
