Legendary mime performer Marcel Marceau's costume hat, accompanied by the letter he wrote and signed gifting it. Light brown top hat of woven cloth features a red mesh pouf anchored to the crown with wrapped wire. Lot also includes an autograph letter signed by Marceau upon his personal pictorial stationery, with hand-drawn sketches by him of the hat and a sunshine design. Letter reads in full, "Here is the End of 1992 US tour and not the Last one the 18th of Dec 92 / Dear Kurt, I want to thank you for your Great Help and your professionalism. You made it Easier for us. And the Spirit was so Intense. I do Hope we meet again in the future, now our tour Ends, I want to enclose here a little gift for Christmas. [Hat drawing] I remain your friend and with all my heart your Marcel Marceau / love to your dear wife and Family / Happy Christmas!". 2pp. letter on a single sheet measures 8.25" x 11.5". Pinholes on letter and creasing to folds, else near fine. Accompanied by an 8" x 10" photo of Marceau donning the hat in full makeup and character, as well as a 6" x 9" promotional flyer featuring the red pouf motif. Both promo images are mounted to foam board. Hat measures 7.5" in height not counting the pouf. Brim measures 12" in diameter. Near fine.
