Ludwig Bemelmans original artwork from ''Marina'', his 1962 book that features a little girl Marina, who is swallowed by a shark, and then saved by a school of porpoises. Large watercolor in shades of green, yellow, blue and coral measures 24'' x 16.5''. With a stamped signature by Bemelmans at lower right, as done by Hammer Galleries who originally sold Bemelmans' work for him. Hammer Galleries stamp also appears on back on 26.75'' x 19'' board, to which the artwork is glued. Some buckling along left and right margins and light block of toning from framing, but overall in very good plus condition with bright colors that pop. From the estate of Mary Hemingway.
