Very interesting lot of seven letters by Jackie Kennedy Onassis from the early 1990s as Editor for Doubleday, including two autograph letters signed, three autograph notes signed, and two typed letters signed with additional handwritten notes. All letters are addressed to Philip Myers who authored the book ''Squished: Jackie Kennedy, Espionage, Murder and Me'', about the death (possible murder) of Leonid Tarassuk, a purported Russian spy whom Jackie Kennedy was very close to in the 1970s. Letters are either on Jackie's personal 1040 Fifth Avenue stationery or Doubleday stationery, all but two of which also include the original envelopes.

The tone of Jackie's letters is warm and friendly, reading in part, ''I do hope you will find this book enthralling - best / Jacqueline Onassis'', and ''I would be most grateful if you could give this letter to Arseny Berezin, thanking him for the beautiful book he sent me via Paula [Litzky]. / Your trip to St. Petersburg sounds [underlined] fascinating...Jacqueline Onassis''. In a letter dated 6 February 1992 she writes, ''Dear Mr. Myers / What beautiful flowers you sent me. I was very touched and they are the joy of our office - I believe Paula Litzky has called you. She is a distinguished person who used to be head of foreign rights here. I hope she can help. / I haven't heard from agent Mort Janklow or from the NY Review of Books. If you and Paula don't hit on a plan I think you should get an agent who knows books [underlined] and films. Paula may be able to suggest one - With so many thanks / Jacqueline Onassis''. She writes in December 1993, ''Dear Phil / Thank you for your Christmas note and for reporting on all your Russian adventures. They sound truly fascinating and full of promise - I send you all my happiest wishes for Christmas and the New Year / best Jackie''. All letters are signed either ''Jacqueline Onassis'' or ''Jackie'', with one envelope additionally initialed ''J.K.O.'' by her. In addition to Jackie's seven letters, a letter from Nancy Tuckerman, Jackie's personal secretary, is included, dated 16 May 1994, just three days before the First Lady passed away, writing that ''she is concentrating on regaining her strength after an operation.'' Letters range in size from 8.5'' x 11'' paper to 5.75'' x 4'' note cards. Overall in very good condition with bold, legible handwriting by Jackie.
