First edition of Dr. Seuss's wildly successful book ''How the Grinch Stole Christmas'' published by Random House: New York: 1957, with first printing dustjacket. All the first printing points are present, including the 250/250 price on the bottom of the front flap, and the 14 titles on the rear flap. Unpaginated volume features red pictorial endpapers and comes bound in glossy paper boards. Measures 8.25'' x 11.5''. Prior owner's name inscribed to front free endpaper and bookplate affixed to half title. Light foxing, toning, and soiling to leaves. Wear and bumping to board corners and edges. Very good overall. Toning to dustjacket and chipping to edges, with creasing to spine. Very good. The very first of a modern classic.
