Lauritz Melchior, Danish-born American opera tenor, typed letter signed, dated 13 January 1967 on personalized stationery. Letter is addressed to German journalist Werner Baecker and references one of Melchior's films, ''...I had a fantastic response from Germany each time it was shown there -- I had bunches of letters forwarded from the Post office, some of them addressed to: Lauritz Melchior, famous tenor of the past tenses, somewhere in the hills above Hollywood!'' Signed in blue ink, ''Lauritz Melchior'', 1pp. letter measures 7.25'' x 10.5'' with ''Kalifornia'' penned at top right in unknown hand. Slight imprint from a paperclip and two blue ink blots, else near fine. Also includes fine ''To Richard E. Weitzer from Lauritz Melchior'' inscribed black and white 3.5'' x 5.5'' photo.
