Academy Award nomination plaque for ''The Graduate,'' nominating Robert Surtees for outstanding achievement in Cinematography. The plaque reads: ''Certificate of Nomination for Award / Be it known that Robert Surtees was nominated for an / Academy Award of Merit for outstanding achievement / Cinematography / 'The Graduate' / This judgment being rendered with reference to Motion Pictures first regularly exhibited in the Los Angeles district during the year ending December 31, 1967.'' The movie about a recent college graduate seduced by an older woman won Mike Nichols the Oscar for Best Director. An early version of the hit Simon and Garfunkel song, ''Mrs. Robinson,'' was featured in the film along with Oscar-nominated performances by Dustin Hoffman, Anne Bancroft and Katharine Ross. The lacquered wooden plaque with gilt edge measures 12'' x 13.75''. Minor scratching, else near fine.
