J. Edgar Hoover signs a typed letter on FBI letterhead, dated 1 March 1958. The FBI Director congratulates Irene Arterberry of Dallas on her tenth anniversary with the Bureau. Hoover writes, ''...Your record of service...reflects a splendid spirit of loyal and conscientious devotion to your job. The constant manifestation of such an attitutude is a matter of great personal satisfaction to me for it is just such an esprit de corps...that has made possible the steady advance of our organization...[signed] J. Edgar Hoover''. Lot includes two 4.5'' x 3.5'' glossy photos of Hoover making a presentation to Arterberry. Light soiling and toning to 8'' x 10.5'' letter, else very good condition.
